Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is an Indian-born British American musician and sitarist, is well known for her songs. She was the youngest and first woman to receive the British House of Commons Shield she's received Nine Grammy Awards nominations and was the first musician of Indian origin to perform live in concert and serve as a presenter at the ceremony. Anoushka Shakar, who is just a emerging star on the Indian Sitar, is Anoushka. She is both the student and daughter of Ravi Shankar. She was born 1982 in London. Her childhood years were split between London and New Delhi. When she was 13, she gave her first performance at New Delhi. Then she relocated to Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. Anouskha's career as a performer and recorder is quite impressive, in spite of her youth. She often joins her father in performances this she's done for a number of years. The singer released Anourag her first album solo in 1998. The Grammy Award-winning Live at Carnegie Hall was released two years following her debut solo album. Her stage career is very extensive for she has been in every one of the major stages in the world. Anoushka Shankar's career is not only limited to music. The year 2003 saw her appeared in Dance Like a Man as an actress and Bharat Natyam performer. Anoushka Shankar is currently a rising superstar and her fame is expected to continue growing. Anoushka was raised in England however, she spent the majority of her childhood split between London and Delhi. She then moved to California and attended high school there. Anoushka Shankar began her musical studies at age nine. Four years later she performed her music debut with the sitar Delhi at her father's 75th birthday party. Anoushka had the opportunity to acquire many valuable experiences as she traveled with her father when he toured the world. The tour included appearances at Carnegie Hall and at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festivals in addition to recording with George Harrison. As a tribute to her status as a leading musician of Asian Arts, she was given the House of Commons Shield by British parliament.
